Aai: “Yeh credit card toh loan jaisa hota hai na?”
I nodded. “Sort of… pehle use karo, baad mein pay karo.”
Then she asked: “Phir yeh bata… banks rewards kyun kam kar rahe hain?”
Good question.
I asked her back: “Agar rewards kam ho gaye, toh tum card use karna band kar dogi?”
She paused… then said: “Band kyun karu? Par change kar sakte hain na?”
Fair point. But not so simple.
So I told her what’s really happening.
Me: “Aai, jab tum card use karti ho, bank har transaction pe thoda paisa kamata hai.”
Usi se: Rewards milte hain & Cashback milta hai
But now:
*Log sirf rewards ke liye spend karte hain
* Banks ka cost badh raha hai
* Aur profits pressure mein aa rahe hain
So banks are adjusting: Rewards kam & Conditions zyada
She said: “Toh phir log doosra card le lenge.”
I said: “Haan… par har baar change karna solution nahi hota.”
Then I told her my own behaviour.
Earlier, when I was working, I had multiple cards across banks.
Today, I use just two cards… from the same bank.
And interestingly, I use RuPay more. Not because it gives the best rewards.
But because:
*It works on UPI
* It’s widely accepted
* And somewhere… it feels more apna
And I told her: “Har decision reward ke basis pe nahi hota.”
She smiled and said: “Jaise main Swiggy se order nahi karti… chahe discount mile.”
Exactly.
The Kitchenomics Takeaway 🍽️
Credit card usage sirf maths nahi hota.
It’s also:
* Habit
* Comfort
* Aur Mindset
Jaise: Purana doodhwala Ya kirana wala
Discount milne se decision change nahi hota har baar.
Banks rewards adjust karenge.
Customers behaviour adjust karenge.
But somewhere in between, loyalty bhi ek choice hoti hai.
Because in the end,
“Har baar better offer ke peeche bhaagna… zaruri nahi better decision ho.”
(Chasing every better offer isn’t always a better decision.)
